Dear Penny,
Yes I do have Methigel and used it for 4 weeks on Kinjaroo after her
first stone surgery. She received 0.2ml daily for 1 months and was
scheduled to continue on it twice weekly for 5 months. Cavies have
problems coping with acid load from Methigel. In Kinjaroo's case she
began to loose weight and was not as active. So I stopped using the
Methigel and gave her hydrangea root extract and 50 mg of vitamin C
every day. Her first stone was huge. The second stones were an
accumulation of what appeared to be calcium carbonate crystals. So I do
think the Methigel was helpful. All drugs have side effects and in
Kinjaroo's case I felt the side effects were hurting her. I am waiting
for her sutures to dissolve before I start giving her the Rowatinex
which was developed and clinically tested to treat kidney stones.
Vedra's research has shown that the Rowatinex and the 20 minutes on the
Niagara cyclo massage prevents stones from forming. I also have changed
all of my piggys over to low calcium spring water. I will keep you
posted on how she does. Thanks for talking to your rodentologists about
Kinjaroo's case.

Cheers,

Ann and the Rescued Piggys of Piggyville, Tampa Florida USA.
