Hi Linda and welcome back! If your lady pig were pg she would be at least
entering her third trimester and at that time you might notice a definite
pear shape occurring and maybe a bit lumpy, it may be lopsided if she has an
uneven number of pups. Other than that, since it has been a very long time
since I have had baby pigs I dont have a lot of info. A few of our members
would have more experience and will no doubt have much to add. For a
potentially pregnant female I would add some alfalfa to her usual grass,
timothy, or orchard hay, and give hi Vit C and hi calcium veggies like kale,
introduce slowly of course. We have a list of these in the archives,
guinealynx has it too.
Another group www.guinealynx.info has much more info as we tend to acquire
piggies through adoption and adoption accidents as you may as well. Not to
say we dont adore baby piggies, one of God's most amazing creatures being so
fully formed active and eating from birth. GL also offers a very handy
health record book, a forum, and extensive medical info.
As to the nibbling, some piggies are nibblers, my Sammy is, so I usually
approach him under the chin or ears or jaw line, or with food in hand. If I
am holding him he doesn't reach out to nibble me, but he will nibble a
proffered finger or anything else for that matter so be careful to keep her
safe from her questing nibble. So I dont think it is a trait of pregnant
sows
So welcome back and feel free to use the archives and to use us to catch up
with any subjects you may have forgotten over time, we are usually quick
with advice and with humor and story telling and support.
Welcoming Wheeks, and bouquets of parsley and cilantro. Sandy and Shipwreck
Sam
