Carole has written a perfect reply to Sammie and Li'l Red's problem. Speed
is of the essence with any repiratory problem and the value of
Lasix/furosemide cannot be overstated.
I am always wary of naming drugs on the GPDD as names and dilutions can vary
so much between our different countries but my Rodentologists use Septrin
antibiotic and on the box it says "each 5ml. contains trimethoprim
sulfamethoxazole" so it could well be the same thing. The box states "40/200
mg. per 5 ml.". I hope that Ann is reading this thread and can add her
invaluable input.
With my Septrin, the dose is 1ml. twice a day and IF, repeat IF, it is the
same thing, your dose is too low.
A children's decongestant can help considerably in addition to the
antibiotic but, again, the names of remedies are going to be different. In
England I use one called Sudafed.
Our vet Xrays piggies ( conscious of course ) by using small sandbags either
side of the piggy.
