Nothing to do with piggies this one but with all the sad anniversaries that are upon us, here is a little story to make you smile.

My son, Kevin, was on his way to work at the shelter the other day, when he stopped his car to let a mother duck and her brood of twelve ducklings cross the road. She must have timed her crossing expertly as this little country road experiences some horrendously fast driving and subsequent accidents.

When he had parked his car he saw the duck and her family coming in the front gate of the shelter. He suspected that she was a Sanctuary resident who had chosen to have her brood elsewhere and was returning home. Wildfowl at the Sanctuary are free to come and go as they please and there is always food for all.

A little while later, the receptionist was heard on the loudspeaker asking for help to remove a family of ducks. Mother duck must have made a wrong turn and led them all into the reception building. Help was at hand and they were all rounded up and released on the Sanctuary lake.

Karma must have been at work here as the following day Kevin received a commission to write a website for an animal healer ( he does this in this spare time ) and then a staff member offered to pay him to upgrade his computer. What goes around comes around.
