Is Pookie a chubby lady?

Here is a possible solution. In Peter Gurney's book, "The Proper Care of 
Guinea Pigs", he talks about a lump which "feels more like a small sinuous 
nodule, or a series of them grouped together. It can be felt just below the 
surface of the skin, usually high up on the body, just behind the front 
legs. However, it sometimes occurs elsewhere. This is invariably 
subcutaneous fat and it the animal was a human being, it would be advised to 
go on a diet!"

Does this sound like what you are experiencing with Pookie?

Don't worry about the diet, unless she is seriously overweight.  Peter was 
just joking. A few ounces overweight are not a problem for a piggy as, if 
they are ever ill, they lose weight so quickly that the little extra is all 
to the good.
