The best way to collect urine from a piggie is to let him or her sit on a 
sage and hopefully sterile non porous surface, like a dining room table, 
wipe down with alcohol first, make sure no residue of cleaners  or dirt 
remains. Entertain your piggie, keeping him safe from running off the table, 
a big help is to serve a large wet, not too sweet salad, or just romaine, 
and wait. After  a while the piggy will wee, then pick it up in a very clean 
or new syringe and take the sample to the vet or do the test, such as blood 
sugar you were planning

3. Syringe, very clean or new, needle not needed

When you get to vet he will probably want a blood sample to, this is safely 
done by getting a syringe ready, having the vet cut a toe nail a bit too 
short, it will bleed, pick up sample with a syringe or a test strip, like a 
diabetes test strip in the case he is doing a blood sugar test, but in this 
case where iron or hemoglobin or ferritin level is used to test for anemia, 
probable the syringe is best. In case a bigger amount is needed they may 
need to go in with a syringe to an artery or vein, Ann Evans will know about 
this. When toenail is done be sure to press a thick compress to the toe to 
stop the bleeding, also cornstarch is used, in the old days styptic powder 
was used don’t know if it is anymore
