When a cavy is suffering from heat stroke and is puffing which I am
interpreting as breathing from her mouth and her lungs are making
clicking sounds this is almost always a sign of FLUID in the lungs.
Please take Pixie to another vet and request 10 mg of Lasix which is a
diuretic. BAR recommends the Lasix. Continue the Vicks 2-3 times/day.
Also syringe her room temperature Pedialyte. In any case of a lung
infection an anti inflammatory must be given. BAR recommends Rimadyl
Dose 10 mg twice a day for 3 days then 5 mg twice a day for the
remainder of the time she is on Bactrim.
I am not a vet but I volunteer for Dr. Frank Bonsack DVM of Adventure
Animal Hospital as a cavy health advisor.

Cheers,

Ann and the Rescued Piggys of Piggyville, Tampa Florida USA.
