The following all from Ann. None from me she works at a vet on Cavy’s is not a vet, if surgery is needed ask Ann fro her directions for the best Cavy anesthesia practices. Ann says Ariel needs 10 mg of Lasix once a day if she has fluid in her lungs , then in 24 hours see if fluid has returned, go back to vet if you need to be sure, Then it would be 5 mg Lasix. Normal breathing normally, not good if she’s breathing with mouth open, or from diaphragm. Anything other than normal go to vet.

If its determined that she has a respiratory infection use the protocol Ann gives, be sure not give antibiotics on the bad list at Guinea Lynx, give her Baytril (tell Vet) 0.4ml, 2.5% solution, 2 times per day for 7 days. The Baytril is mixed with 0.4 milligrams of dexamethasone, vet will do and inject, this is an anti-inflammatory for lungs, no other pain med needed now, Smear Vicks Vapo rub on Ariel's nose. 3 times per day. Ann will give you more details

Ann has a picture of a long clear worm called a lung worm that cavy's do get, it could look as you describe Ann says Google “verminous pneumonia” parasitic lung worm infection You are seeing it in bubbles because the gut is squeezing it (as a possibility not firm diagnosis). Follow the parasite regimen whether or not you find evidence, because many are fatal but cant be seen, it could be heart worm for instance looks similar. These worms would account for the heavy breathing. And then complicated with a bacterial infection on top so treat with Baytril, and anti parasitic regimen both, watch for need of Lasix, Give Ivermectin 0.1 ml of 1.0 % solution, give orally repeat, in 7 to 10 days

also give 0.4 ml Panacur, 2.5% solution, by mouth, also repeat in every day for 5 days. Afterwards repeat once every 3 months both meds but give only 1 dose ivermectin and 1 dose of Panacur. Start this right away.

if gassy give 3ml of simethicone, infant baby drops, so that’s 10 times the regular dose, she wont overdose. Repeat as needed as much as every 2 to 4 hrs. until gas finished.
keep her walking if she wont hold her like a baby and hold her legs, pump her legs gently up to her chest and then extend, repeat repeat repeat etc.
and syringe Pedialyte
Give lots of Critter be Better or Critical Care, mix thickly, cut tip of tube at .1 mark so you have an open barrel, use any position that she’s comfy. Get her to fart. The nursing care is the most important. Tummy Rubbing, leg pumping, love, warmth

If you aren’t on Skype call Ann and Ann will call you immediately, she needs your time zone, and number Close words from Ann
