Welcome to the GPDD Izzy and Jhumpa,
Your little boar sounds as though he has picked up some lice. There is a
wonderful site called Guinea Lynx, which has all kinds of useful information
on piggies and here is a link to the page that you need.

I can buy the appropriate meds here in the UK but in other countries it
seems that you need to go to the vet for the things that you will need.
We are an international group and I wonder where you live. If you are in the
UK, I would recommend a wonderful anti parasite shampoo called VetSect Repel
but I know from previous discussions that it is not available in the US,
where most of our members live.
It is a good idea to get your little boy onto a regular programme of the
medications called Ivermectin and Panacur once he is three months old.
Ivermectin will kill mites, which are the bane of a piggy's life. You can
read about mites on GuineaLynx here.

I have a herd of rescued piggies and all of mine get regular three monthly
doses of Ivermectin as a preventative for mites and Panacur for internal
parasites. Prevention is better than cure and I have been following this
procedure for many years. Young piggies over three months of age get a half
dose. Adults get the full dose.
One of our GPDD members in the US works closely with a vet, who specialises
in piggies and she is currently writing a website. Here is the link to her
advice on this subject. The use of Panacur is called "worming". Do have a
read. Her advice is second to none. She gives an alternative shampoo to my
VetSect Repel although she freely admits that is second best. Such a shame
that it cannot be exported.

Any other problems? Do ask. Someone here is sure to be able to help as we
collectively have decades of experiences with piggies.
Wishing you many happy years of piggy slavedom.
