Dear GPDD Family,
I am on the British Island of Bermuda. My husband and I are taking a
well earned vacation from caring for my terminally ill sister. She is
getting great nursing care and my younger sister is staying with here.
Regarding Ellen's posting about stones. Please go to my web page
piggyville.com. Yes it is under construction but it tells you how
important that all cavies be given reverse osmosis water for life. It is
the most important factor in preventing cystitis and stones. Do not use
spring water or distilled water. Also with an infection of the urinary
tract, inner ears or respiratory tract and anti-inflammatory, NSAID,
MUST be used. Antibiotics alone will not cure your cavy and your cavy
can be left with damage to these organs that predispose it to reaccuring
infections if NSAIDS are not used. Rimadyl and children's ibuprofen are
the best. I learned this information from the British Association of
Rodentologists, BAR. They have 40 years experience treating rodents,
especially cavies. Does your vet have 40 years experience treating cavies?
Cheers,

Ann and the Rescued Piggys of Piggyville, Tampa Florida USA.
