You might remember that Rafferty came to us from his breeder as his coat
makes him unsuitable for showing. He should be all black but has a charcoal
face and some streaks on his back.

My son was talking to the breeder at work, where she is the gardener, and
he told her how well Rafferty has settled in with the Piggyfriend herd.
Since moving into one of the pig rooms, he has found his voice and is
copying the other piggies in shouting for food and munching new veggies.

Rafferty's sister, who is of show quality, was taken to a show last
weekend. His owner thought that she might not be good enough to enter and
was just sitting watching, with the little sow on her lap, when she was
persuaded to enter her by a friend. Not wanting to be embarrassed by
entering the piggy in her own name, she wrote her friend's name on the
entry form.

She swept the board and took home all the prizes for the classes in which
she was entered!

I think that Rafferty is more impressed by the pile of yummy grass that he
is sharing with his new friend than the news that his sister is a
prizewinner.

I am not at all competitive and have never considered entering a show with
any of my motley crew even in a pet class. Mine are just pigs to love.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
