Hi,

I'm very distressed and upset at what my beloved Joey is going through, and
I'm hoping someone might have some advice before I take him to the vet
tomorrow (lovely lady, but not au fait with cavies). The problems started
about 2 years ago. I'll be as succinct as possible.

1.	Joey came home after I bought fro pet stores where he was being
picked on by another male. Joey had a couple of sores on the back which
were being treated with Betadine. They healed.
2.	My brother came for visit with new husky dog, dog which proceeded to
stick his head into pigs cage anc grab Joey and started running around house
with Joey. There didn't seem to be any damage apart from terrible shock and
upset.
3.	Joey had surgery in 2009 for a huge cyst which had gradually grown
on his back, and appeared to be coming to a head so I let it go hoping it
would dissolve naturally. It didn't, it got so big it was affecting his
walking, so I got surgery for him. The vet said there were 2 cysts there -
he got one cyst out, but the other was so big he couldn't do the surgery -
it would be a vet surgeon, and it was possible that surgeon couldn't get it
all, even with amputation of back leg!
4.	The drain put in by vet did nothing, but I had the idea of using a
drawing ointment on the wound, and we continue to use the ointment and get
heaps of pus out of the cyst. Joey had surgery in Feb 2010.
5.	I have had Joey on .8 ml Bactrim twice per day ever since surgery.
6.	The antibiotic seems to be doing its job along with the drawing
ointment - the antibiotic even clearing his cheilitis which I have been
unable to clear on my own.
7.	During the time since surgery to now, his opposite side to the wound
started to grow in size.
8.	Today had put Joey away after floor time, noticed the wound had
opened again and lots of pus was there. I then heard him make a cry, then
another cry, and he seemed to be pushing as if he was constipated.
9.	That push opened the wound and we got lots of pus out.
10.	Then, I noticed his eyes didn't look bright, not like my Joey at
all. No interest in the grass I put in his cage. Took him for a bit of
real grass time, he ate it okay.
11.	Put him away again, still not happy with him.
12.	Then I heard Joey scream in pain.
13.	When I got him out, put him on table, he screamed more in pain, and
as he screamed he lifted his whole back end off the table. This would
happen twice every time.
14.	It's as if he has colic.
15.	So I treated him the only way I know how, and as I write this I'm
sitting in bed with Joey in his tent beside me, every minute he lets out a
scream and raises his back end and rolls it to the side.
16.	I've given him hot water bottles to lay on to help cramps, he's had
Buscopan, I've rubbed his tummy with castor oil, and given his orally some
paraffin oil, with probiotics and vitamin C. Metacam for pain.
17.	He just sits in his tent, absolutely exhausted and in severe pain,
and cries.
18.	It's now less than a minute in between screams & lifting of the
abdomen.
19.	No urine output and no drinking or eating
20.	Previously, for the last month or so, Joey has been drinking
enormous amounts of water and weeing on his towels at night and next morning
they are drenched like they'd just been washed & put through the wringer.

Could this be kidney stones, bladder stones, kidney failure?

I'm terrified maybe with the boated abdomenh that his gut might be getting
twisted.

Will an x-ray show anything? What should I ask the vet to do?

Its 3.50 am in Australia, and I haven't been to sleep, just looking after my
pigs, and Joey (of course, Sooty still needs care with the abscess near his
eye still producing small amounts of pus).

Please anyone - HELP!!!!

Tearfully,

Julie
