I'm so sorry that his passing was so traumatic for him--and for you. I'm sure you're in shock right now. Watching our little ones suffer is so much worse than suffering ourselves. I'm praying you can get through (not over--we never get over) this excruciating experience. and be able to cherish your memories of a healthy Joey, which he will be when you two are reunited at the Bridge.
