I went to collect them this afternoon. Two dear little girls, thankfully
saved by the lovely ladies at Palace Piggies.

They are both light brown agoutis, one rex and one smooth coated, both with
lighter brown patches on their sides and look like they could have been
mother and daughter. The little rex lady was handed in to Palace Piggies,
where they were told that she is 3 1/2 years old. She is about the size of
my 4 1/2 month old Bosworth. She is not thin but just very small. Whether
she was seriously undernourished in her previous home, we will never know
but she eats very well and is bright and jolly. She reminds me very much of
my Truffle from years ago except for the size. Truffle and her sister
Treacle were both large ladies.

The babe was spotted in a pet shop, three weeks ago, by the Palace Piggies
ladies. Buying piggies in pet shops is not the way to go as it only
encourages the shop to stock more piggies but they could not bear to leave
this little girl behind and bought her as a companion for the little rex.
She was said to be 8 weeks old but looked about 3 weeks and should have
still been with her mother. She was all alone and terrified so she was
"rescued". This counts as a rescue in my opinion and I would have done the
same. She doesn't even look 8 weeks old now but is bright and loves her
slightly larger friend. They snuggle up together for a nap and look just
like a little family.

They have both cleared up everything that I put in their pen and they did
the same on Sunday and Monday when they were with our Rodentologists having
a health check before I went to fetch them home. There does not seem to be
anything that they don't like so, hopefully, they will grow in size
together.

Palace Piggies have named them Hedgehog and Mouse. Maybe I will keep those
names - the naming of names is a serious business and I always take my time.

When they have settled in, I will try to take some pigtures to share.
Little Mouse runs at the speed of light so I'll need someone at home to
hold her but I think that Hedgehog will sit still if bribed with veggies.
She was not too hard to catch when I collected her and was easy to move
from my carrier to their new pen. Mouse was another matter and I was scared
that she would run out of the carrier and across the floor so took extra
care. If they had been going straight into one of my large pens, I would
just have put the carrier on the floor and opened the door but I thought
that they would benefit from some time alone before any introductions are
made.

Pigtures soon.

Penny and the Piggyfriends. Don"t ask me how many there are now! When
people ask, I always say that there are between 20 and 30 but with room for
one or two more. I never count them as it reminds me of the ones who are
no longer with us.
