May and Quintin came home this evening from the rescue with my son.

They were able to have a closer inspection than I was able to give them at
the rescue yesterday. May's huge coat contained large mats, which I started
to remove and then I saw the lice (aaagh!) so off to the bathroom we went.
As they have always lived together, I suspected that Quintin also had some
lice, although I could not see any, so they both had a vigorous bath in
VetSect Repel shampoo. They were both very good although I suspect that
this was their first bath. Quintin is a short coated piggy but May is an
Alpaca and needed a severe haircut so that I could work the lather well
down into what coat she now has left.

Then they both had a dose of Ivermectin and are presently sitting in a box
of towels, eating cucumber whilst they wait to dry.

I had hoped to let them settle into their new home before doing anything
with them but the lice needed immediate attention so they haven't even seen
their home yet. They seem quite content to munch and get dry and I am sure
that May's coat will feel much better now. They will be shampooed again
during the next two weeks and have a second dose of Ivermectin in two weeks
time.

May doesn't seem quite so enormous now although she is much bigger than
Quintin. I weighed her and she is 2.6 pounds. Quite a big girl though not
a LAPS piggy. They remind me of the husband and wife in the old McGill
saucy seaside postcards, which older UK readers might recall. They always
featured a huge domineering wife alongside her henpecked husband, who was
very short and thin and about a third of her size.

I'll try and take some pigtures tomorrow of them and Candy. I think that
they have had quite enough excitement for one day.

They are little poppets and I am so pleased to have them. I am always
delighted when new piggies come home, even after all these years of piggy
care.
