[Gpdd] MISC: To wheek or not to wheek, that's my question.

Carol,

You might think that, with a herd of 20-30 piggies at any one time, that
there would be a lot of wheeking going on at Piggyfriends. The opposite is
true. Although they chat amongst themselves, very few of them wheek out
loud. Some complain with a squeal when it is nail trimming time. Others
make a fuss when another pig steals their piece of veggie or their comfy
spot in the hay. Halloween purrs contentedly when the food arrives. There
is great excitement when I come home with a bag of forage or new veggies
but this is mostly delighted scampering around or jostling for position at
the front of the pen. Dandelion, boss pig of one group, is probably the
loudest.

The noisiest piggy at the moment is new girl Candy, who wheeks when she
thinks that food might be about to arrive but I wonder if she will do this
when she is in a group. May and Quintin, still in the quarantine room with
Candy, give little squeaks of delight but I would not call this outright
wheeking.

In fact, the loudest wheekers at Piggyfriends are my cockatiels, who
learned noises from piggies past and continue to wheek at me. They also
respond to bird noises online and join in with gusto.

So, don't worry about Tundra. He may wheek in his own good time or, like
many of my little ones, decide just to chatter and never wheek.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
