It is good to hear from you again Janna and with such wonderful news. Well
done for giving Bubble and Squeak a lovely new home. Welcome boys!

Personally, I would never try a trio of boars. It can be done but the
failure rate is high. Two bonded boars are great friends but when you try
to introduce another one it can destroy the dynamic of the pair. You can
find that two of them will bond, not necessarily the original pair, leaving
one out on his own and sometimes all three will have to be separated, which
would be a shame. The third one can be bullied by the pair or all three
will argue or fight with each other.

They might all be able to have playtime together so long as there is plenty
of room and you will be there ready to throw a towel over anypig who causes
trouble.

Even when I had several baby boars all born on the same day, I split them
up into pairs upon weaning rather than risk a trio. Sometimes three babes
will be OK together but eventually, as they grow, there will be dominance
issues so I feel that it better to keep with pairs.

As you have no sows, at least the issue of sow scent will not be a problem
so they will not be fighting over them but you could still be in for
difficulties. Let's hope it all works out for you.

Here is a link to some info on trios. Scroll down a bit for this one.....

And also look at..........

also see the link to Rufus's pigs from this page. This site is out of date
but the info holds true.

Our GPDDer Jocelyn once had a successful trio of boars but her second
attempt did not work so her third boar had his own side of a divided pen.
Please correct me if I am wrong Jocelyn. Our Rodentologist always warns
people not to try trios of boars and never tries it with her own pigs.

If your three were Piggyfriends, I would have the new boys living side by
side with Batman either in two pens/cages or have a very large pen divided
down the middle so that they have all the companionship that they need
without the potential for trouble. Batman will love to have new friends
with whom to chat.

If you do decide to try a trio, do let us know how you get on as a
successful outcome would be good for the records.

Looking forward to seeing your pigtures.

Hugs for Bubble and Squeak.
