[Gpdd] HEALTH: garlic and Forco

I remember reading that garlic and onions are toxic to piggies. I don't know about refined garlic oil, but I'd be careful. I'm glad to hear it's doing good for the doggies!

There's a product I used to use on my horses called Forco. It was a yeasty-smelling prebiotic, which enhanced the action of probiotics in the gut. I managed to help save a friend's cockatiel with it. It had diarrhea and was failing to thrive for no discernable reasion, but made a full recovery. Like piggies', birds' recoveries are sadly rare. Horses have similar guts to guineas. I had a mare who was beginning to colic (an often fatal and horribly painful condition), and, while I was waiting for the vet, I started feeding her Forco. By the time he got here, she was just about over it. Colic rarely "just goes away." So, if the brewer's yeast (which is probably a main ingredient in Forco) doesn't help Mimi, this other product just might. I hope she gets well soon!
