Joanne. No, not the infection, the medication, chloramphenicol that my vet
used for these under chin/in the chest abscesses can cause a reaction in a
very small percentage of humans. It sounds like that is what your Sassy has,
an abscess. The first question is where did it come from.
1. A bite
2. pus dripped down from a tooth infection
3. pus dripped down from an ear infection (that is what happened to my
piggy)

Your vet must culture the exudate to see what it is and what medication will
kill it. Then the piggy has to be treated not just at the site where the
abscess is but also from wherever else on the body it came from. Once the
whole pig is cured then there is less chance of the piggy becoming a
carrier. Make sure the whole course of antibiotics is given along with
probiotics on the opposite schedule so her digestion stays good. But
remember that any infection can spread to others, animal or human, so use
good hygiene, cloves, washing and antiseptics
