SMZ/TMP is the same as TMS and Septrim and the long list of other generics.  It's the drug I've had most success with on UTIs ... Baytril is generally less effective, though alternating between it and TMS is often effective against more stubborn bouts.

It's good if she really doesn't have blood in her urine (you can't always see the blood if it's in small quantities ... just keep checking if she keeps crying) ... most likely no stones ... though since she's been crying it sounds like a more stubborn incident and, since it's a recurring infection, will need a longer course of antibiotics, possibly switching between a few drugs.  However, if her symptoms stop quickly, 10-14 days might be enough.
