Dear Joanie:

We saw the town vet two days ago.  He seemed really helpful at the time.  We brought the tools with us and he showed us how to use them.  Basically he kept saying you don't use these tools unless they're under anesthesia.  he's a strong believer in putting them under anesthesia.

Anyway, he trimmed Bedlington's front bottom teeth saying they were too long and gave metacam.  the dose is .1 ml once a day for three days.  His take was that the bottom teeth were hurting the top of his mouth.

We had a call into him late afternoon yesterday but he never called.  He doesn't get in until a few more hours from now.  Basically Bedlington still doesn't eat on his own and I'm not sure if he's drooling now.  The vet examined the back teeth with his otoscope I think it's called? and said his back teeth all look smooth and good.  so we can't imagine what's going on now as we did have him looked at by a so called competent vet.  I think the vet said he's too weak that if he were to put him under now that he'd never get out of it.  That made my blood run cold.

I'm really begging you to please post the above to the gpdd and hopefully people will respond.  We're really at a loss.  We have baytril and sulfatrim on hand so that we could give those if need to.  Also need to know if that would interact with the metacam for pain that he's on right now.

PLEASE HELP.  WE'RE REALLY COUNTING ON YOU.  MANY THANKS.

Take care.

Love, Corrine
