Hi, a very quick message because you need to get electrolytes into Puffy
ASAP. 2 months ago my Sooty suffered a very bad case of diarrhoea, then it
starting to run out, then it turned to blood running out, and I thought he
was a gonner.

However, I found a vet who lives the other side of Australia who is cavy
savvy, and he said first thing, having lost all that fluid/poo, I had to
give Sooty between 5-10ml of electrolytes (I used Hydralyte) per hour, as
well as critical care and acidophilus.

After being told that Sooty didn't have a chance because of the seriousness
of the condition, the advice from that vet worked. Sooty is still with me
today. The amazing thing is it was such simple treatment, and it saved
Sooty's life. Also, the vet did say try to rest the gut, just use
critical care and no food. Also, you have done right with using a poo
from a healthy piggy in a mash. The vet had recommended that too.

The main thing is to replace all the minerals and whatever else they are
called by using Hydralyte ASAP, 5-10ml syringed every hour.

If you don't have any, please purchase some electrolyte replacements ASAP
and get that into little Puffy. Keep him warm too.

Good luck to you and Puffy,

Julie
