Hi Ellen. Just another couple of considerations when using Imodium although
I use it for myself there are cautions.
I like Ann's charcoal treatment already not even having tried it yet but I
will.
Imodium is in the same class of drugs as opiods, how similar it is
described in the attachment.

But the long and the short of it is that you must be careful not to use any
opioid type pain killers for sure, and it warns against NSAID as well. You
should restrict its use to the three days as Ann says or piggie could get
too plugged up.
Also its recommended that you use simethicone along with it as often gas is
involved or even the cause. It's important to note that Imodium will not
work when the culprit is a parasite see.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loperamide

Loperamide is contraindicated in the presence "of high fever or if the stool
is bloody (dysentery).[14] It is of no value in diarrhea caused by cholera,
Shigella or Campylobacter.[14] Treatment is not recommended for patients
that could suffer detrimental effects from rebound constipation. If there is
a suspicion of diarrhea associated with organisms that can penetrate the
intestinal walls, such as E. coli O157:H7 or salmonella, loperamide is
contraindicated.[15][16]
Loperamide treatment is not used in symptomatic C. difficile infections, as
it increases the risk of toxin retention and precipitation of toxic
megacolon.
Loperamide should be administered with caution to patients suffering from
hepatic (liver) impairment due to reduced first pass metabolism. This means
if you don't know the reason you should test for parasites, as paradise has
many.

Good luck, the charcoal seems an excellent charcoal
XOXO Sandy, Sammy and AR
