Anneli, although we are no experts, when we've heard about torsion of the GI tract, it seems that it happens so suddenly.  I doubt that the gas meds would have helped, since everything was so quick.  It certainly good to have gas meds on hand, but we don't think you could have prevented Barney from going on his final journey.  Please know that you did all your best for him, and he knows it -- and we know you are a great gp mom.
