Dear ME,

I was so sad when Sean ( my pigsitter son ) read me your post about losing
Chakalaka.  It reminded me of my dear Lady Truffle from years ago. She went
off her food and the vet found an internal lump, which she at first
suspected to be a growth on her kidney. There was nothing for it but to
attempt surgery but when the vet opened her up, she found a tumour on her
spleen. She attempted a splenectomy, and successfully removed it but I lost
Truffle the very next day. Some surgery is probably a procedure too far for
our delicate little friends but it might have worked and, at least we can
say that we tried. No what ifs.

You have been so unlucky with your piggies and the four that you have left
all have problems. I know how you feel about this being a bad year. Many of
the Piggyfriends are elderly and, because of my impending surgery, I had
been unable to take in any new ones so 2015 is likely to be full of sadness
here too but oh the joy that they bring to our lives.
