Lynn,
I am sorry to read about Callie not eating. There are no rules about
syringe feeding. Get her to eat as much as you can as often as you can. I
keep going until they decide they've had enough and then try to convince
them to have just one more syringeful. Always offer a syringe of water
afterwards to wash all the bits down and dry round her mouth. I like to use
a 1ml. syringe with the pointy end cut off and, if she will take it, give a
whole syringeful at a time. Their cavernous mouths can certainly hold that
much and an otherwise healthy pig can take syringeful after syringeful
until I wonder if they will ever stop.
Losing weight is a worry so get her to see the vet asap.
Piggies have a lot of teeth that cannot be seen so there is a possibility
that her molars have overgrown, trapping her tongue so that she cannot eat
but there are many other reasons for a piggy to go off her food so get her
seen by the expert.
I am going to cc this to you as it can take quite a while for a message to
go through the Gpdd system.
Keep us all updated and best of luck.
Penny and the Piggyfriends.
