Hello Penny and piggy friends and family,
First, thanks to Penny for her advice she sent me about the Critter Be
Better and how much to give Callie.
Now I want to let you know what a blessing I received today. I had prayed
about Callie and finding her someone who could help her. The vet I used in
the past was useless. Well, I was sitting on the couch, syringing her some
water when Earl came out and told me he had done a search for vets in a
nearby city and the first one that popped up had a pic of a vet holding a
guinea pig So, I called them and sure enough, they had a lady named Dr. Kim
who is a specialist with exotics. She had 25 years of experience with GPs
and could see me immediately. It is about 15 miles from us so we packed her
up and off we ran. When we got there, the lady who was at the front desk
said that this doctor had taken care of her pig from birth to the age of 8.
So, I was impressed. She looked Callie over and said she looks pretty
healthy. She has a little dandruff and suggested I change shanpoos to
something milder. She also felt her all over and gave her a thorough exam.
She felt no tumors or anything else suspicious and saw no ulcers or anything
else wrong in her mouth. She did think her incisors were too long so she
took her and gave her a toofie cliping. This Dr. was absolutely wonderful
and very good with Callie. She thinks that was the only problem and told me
to just continue to give her the CBB untilk she starts eating on her own.
If she is still not eating in a couple of days, she wants to see her again
to sedate her and examine her back teeth. I was very impressed with her and
was amazed when she didn't try to price gouge me,. I will go back there for
all my girls' needs now.
So, all I can do now is see if she starts to eat on her own and quits
dropping weight. She hasn't wanted anything yet this evening but I am
hoping it's just because she has had a bad day and maybe her teeth are still
a bit tender. I will continue syringing her until she hopefully starts
eating on her own.
God does answer prayers. :) I will let y'all know how things go for the
next couple of days as soon as I have any news. Thanks for your help and
advice. You are all awesome. Any advice on a good shampoo that is gentle
would be appreciated.
Love, hugs and whisker kisses,
Lynn, Callie and Eve
