Dear Mieke,
I'm so sorry to hear about you losing Roos ---- she was beautiful, and bladderstones are indeed nasty.
I have lost count of the number of bladderstones I have had with the Prairie Pigs.  I have made many many changes since the first stone was diagnosed, including changing the vegetables, pellets and treats I feed the piggies and also switching to distilled water with a bit of apple cider vinegar added.  So far none of the changes appear to have made much difference.  My piggies have all been rescues who are not related, so it seems to me as if the stones must be caused by something I am feeding or doing with their care.  I would do anything to stop them from happening. if only I could discover what I am doing wrong!
My piggie Horatio had surgery to remove a large stone last October; he recovered well, but a new stone began to develop within a few months.  The vet and I are now monitoring the stone month to month; I am still not decided on whether to do another surgery to remove this one, since it seems he will certainly develop another one afterwards.  At the moment, the stone does not seem to be bothering Horatio, so I have not had to face that decision quite yet but I know it's coming.
Again, my condolences on your loss.
Pat and the Prairie Pigs
