Breakfast was leisurely, with the pigs going from hay to fruits to veggies to greens. The pigs were going back out on the boat later in the morning and wanted to make sure they were full enough for the ride. They were told this time the ride would be to another farm down stream that they could visit and have some fresh cut hay. Calypso, Alaska, Ramona and Roxie were all concerned their hair would get messy on the boat ride, so they found some of Avalanche's mommy's hairspray she used to keep her hair in place on the boat rides and sprayed each other. "Oh my! My hair is NOT flowing," Calypso sadly said. "It's just not moving at all!"All pigs and cats loaded into the mini van and went to the dock like yesterday evening. The cats stayed behind again to roam the nearby woods. After a few minutes, Calypso was secretly glad Ramona sprayed her hair. The wind was blowing but her hair was staying put. "Pepper, you should have sprayed your hair," Alaska told her. "Naw, I'm good. I like my hair all over the place." Alberta agreed with Pepper, but Roxie just said "Hmph."
Allie was sticking close to Ethan as she was missing her cage mate. Ethan was glad for the company since many of the misfits called him stinky buns, which he found embarrassing. Allie shyly shared her grass mat with Ethan. It made him think he might ask his mommy to put his cage next to Allie, since she was so nice, but he also liked Andrea since she was still a new misfit and didn't pig on him. Hmmm, he thought, maybe mommy will put my cage between Allie and Andrea. Yep, that would work. Ethan smiled to himself and snacked with Allie on her grass mat. Anita and Adrianna were at the front of the boat, letting their hair get crazier than it usually was. Both had their noses in the air, sniffing for anything that might be interesting.
The boat arrived at the hay farm and the pigs gladly got off. Salsa was looking a little shaky as she got off, so Pumpkin and Nacho went on either side of her just in case she wobbled. "I don't like the boat on an empty stomach," Salsa said."But we ate right before we left," Nacho said.
The pigs went to a large field, riding on a small cart pulled by a pony. There was hay everywhere! Pigs jumped off the cart, after Puff and Oliver of course, and ran all over to get soe fresh hay. Carmac brought a bag and was stuffing it with hay while eating for later.Tijger saw what Carmac had done and quickly wove herself a small hay mat to bring home."Hey Alfred and Lincoln, you better weave a hay rope for later to tie you together," Kevin Bacon told them. "Why?" they asked. "Because we're going to visit a haunted town!" Mistletoe nipped Kevin Bacon on the back end. "Now you've spoiled the surprise!" Alfred and Lincoln looked at each other and started weaving a hay rope. "Don't worry boars," Tyrion told them, "I'll watch out for you." The boys thanked Tyrion, but still continued weaving.
After a few hours in the hay field, it was time to go back to Cullars Inn and rest for the Halloween festivities. Since many of the pigs heard what was going to take place, they talked about it on the boat ride back. "Do you think it will be really scary?" "Do you think there will be ghosts?" "Do you think there will be food?" The boat trip back seemed quicker than the ride out because all of the pigs were engaged in snacking and talking the entire ride. After more snacks and a nap, the pigs got ready for their evening in the haunted town. It took quite some time for Calypso to get all the hairspray out of her hair, but she managed. Cinnamon and Sugar found some graham crackers to munch on to make them brave. Angelina and Otto debated on costumes, as did many of the other pigs. Avalanche had told them no costumes were needed but many wanted to dress up anyway. Cosmo and Casper dressed as mice, being the famous Dangermice. Puff lived up to her name and had some of the sows help her become a large cotton ball. Eddie covered himself with shredded paper so everyone would know he was hungry and Nugget up as a brick, his favorite standing spot. Willie talked Tate into being a cowboy with him, and somehow talkedOnce the confusion stopp Lizzie and Fortune the cats into being their steeds. Macaroon dressed as a Q-Tip to match Puff and stay close by her.Peaches dressed as a Georgia Peach, while Berke decided not to wear a costume so he could run better if needed. Ralphy Lauren decided to got a a king, complete with a crown. Avalanche went as a knight to be with Ralphy, since the were both crested boars.
It was a short trip to the haunted town. It was actually a replica of a working town center. There was a blacksmith, a general store, and a post office. There were tiny pumpkin lights an the buildings. In the center were some corn stalks and pumpkins. There was a tub with water and small apples in it for bobbing. Pakora, Wasabi, and Waikiki stopped by the tub and grabbed a snack for the walk. Lulu amd Mimi went straight for the corn stalks and nibbled off a piece each for themselves. Benny, Fernando, Martin, Kevin Bacon, Billy and R.B. were all wheeking loudly and laughing. "Bring it on" Benny hollered. Several pigs looked at the group but were unsure why the boars were behaving so boisterously. Avalanche's mommy asked them to give her the jugs they were carrying. "Moonshine boys?" "What? It's just corn!" "Uh huh." The jugs were put in a pocketbook that was promptly zipped closed.
The tour started at the Post Office. Alfred and Lincoln stuck close behind Tyrion. Cosmo and Casper stuck close to Tyrion as well. Berke decided this was the group to be with and followed behind Alfred and Lincoln. The Post Office had some dropping spiders and a few fake ghosts. Louis and Henry casually walked through the Post Office, not being frightened by any of it. Peaches and Raani teamed up with Nacho and Salsa in case a quick get-a-way was needed.
The blacksmith shop was next on the tour. Many pigs walked paw in paw, just in case. When a skeleton dropped from the ceiling, Pumpkin squeaked and jumped back right into Roisin and Niamh. Both girls squeaked and backed into Agatha and Derby. Soon there were squeaks coming from all over the building, not because the pigs were scared but because they were all stepping on each others paws. Once the confusion settled out, the pigs continued their tour. Large birds jumped out of dark corners, causing a few nervous squeaks. After the group got outside, many of them bobbed for apples and shredded the corn husks for some fortitude.
Last was the general store. There were lots of items all over the store. Several of the misfits huddled together in the middle of the store. All of the pigs were waiting for something to jump out or fall down. There was just silence. A voice came over the speakers in the store "Come. Come to the back room." Nervously the group of pigs went into the back room. When all were inside, the door shut behind them. "It's trick or treat time" the voice over the speaker said. "Will you get a treat or a trick?"  A light came on over a very large refrigerator. The door started to open slowly by itself. Many of the pigs were getting excited because some of their favorite treats at home came from such a box. When the door was finally open, the light inside came on. "It's a TRICK!" the voice yelled. "HA HA HA". The pigs looked inside and saw....an EMPTY REFRIGERATOR! Several pigs wheeked, a few fainted, teeth were gnashed, many poo'ed and others ran around the room. "Oh no! It's empty" "That's a mean trick" "My refrigerator's never empty"
Suddenly a light came on and the door behind them opened. "Come back to the store" the speaker voice said. No one moved. They didn't want another scare like the one they just had. "NOW!" Pigs jumped and ran back to the main room of the store. On one of the tables were several carved out apples filled with berries, apple pieces and grass. "Now here's your TREAT! Happy Halloween all!" the speaker voice said. Every pig got an apple basket and went outside. "I'm glad that's over with," Lincoln said. "No food is awful scary."
When the pigs were back at the inn and settling down for the night, Otto asked what was going to happen the next day. "Why, tomorrow is El Dia de Los Muertos," Avalanche replied. "The day of the dead." "Oh no!" "Cuddle up with some hay and a pig and sleep well. The day of the dead is like a rememberance day. And there will be food." One by one, the pigs drifted off to sleep, dreaming of fruit and veggies and grass.
