[Gpdd] ANNOUNCE A new family of Piggyfriends

Just before Christmas, I took Louis up to Palace Piggies rescue to have his
teeth checked by our expert Rodentologist, Lynn. At that time, there were
two piggies on their rehoming page called Badger and Millie and I asked
about taking them home. Lynn said that they had only just been reserved so
I said that if it did not work out I would like them and Louis and I came
home.

Over Christmas, I saw the reserved caption beside them. The rescue was
closed until the beginning of January by which time, they were not labelled
as reserved any more so I called again.

Apparently they had gone to be companions to someone's boar but he
frightened the life out of them and they came back to the rescue.

Lynn asked if I was really set on having those two as she now had lots more
piggies needing homes, in particular a trio - Carter, Edie and Marcia. She
told me that Carter is a lovely friendly boar but his two friends are very
skittish and hard to catch and she would like them to go to an experienced
home rather than someone new to piggies who might be put off by their
madness.

You can see them all here.

Badger and Millie are near the middle and Carter and his girls are almost
at the bottom of the page at the moment but they might be moved when Liz
catches up on the website. They are always very busy and it gets overlooked.

So I set off on Sunday to meet them. Lynn had put them in a pen that she
uses for piggy introductions and, just as she said, Carter was sitting
nicely, waiting to be picked up and loved, which I promptly did. What a
lovely boy and he has pink eyes which I adore! The girls raced around the
circular pen trying to escape but I managed to catch them. I have had a lot
of practice.

Lynn told me that Carter had been dumped on somebody's doorstep and thus
found his way to the rescue. He is gorgeous. How could someone do that when
they could have taken him to a rescue with no questions asked? He is safe
now. The girls came from someone who was trying to do a little rescuing. My
two girls have a sister, Clancy, and the three of them were visited by a
boar who jumped into their cage and the would be rescuer did not want to
deal with three possible pregnancies so they all came to Palace Piggies.
Luckily none of them were pregnant ( hooray ) but the third sister did not
get on with my two and has been paired with a nice boar ready for rehoming.

Had my husband not been with me, I probably would have come home with
Badger and Millie too but Lynn will not have any trouble finding these nice
girls a lovely home. I should have gone on my own!

I had a big pen waiting ready for them and the girls promptly disappeared
into a haypile. Carter calmly sat and started on the pile of veggies and it
was not long before the girls joined him. They did not realise that I was
watching them from behind the door. The first day they did a lot of racing
around but they have setlled in very quickly and do not panic overmuch when
I clean their pen. They are getting to know that cleaning out is followed
by fresh grass.

They are all good eaters and seem to like everything that I have tried so
far with the exception of cucumber.

I have taken a few photos and when I have some that are not too blurred due
to the speed of the little girls, I will post them on Undercover Piggies
and let you know when they are there.

I like the name Carter and will keep it but, for some reason, do not like
the name Edie. Lots of Piggyfriends get Gaelic names so I have called her
Saoirse, which means freedom. It seemed appropriate as they wanted to
escape. Her sister I have named Aoife. Pronounce them Seersha and Eefa.

Whilst I was at the rescue, Lynn's husband came in with two piggies that
had been rehomed but the family changed their mind and decided they wanted
a puppy instead so the cage that had held my trio was rapidly cleaned and
prepared for these two to go back. I could have brought them home too but I
must be sensible ( or so my husband says!) Why not have a puppy too? Why be
so uncaring and irresponsible? Until recently I have always had dogs and I
know that some of you have doggies too. Why not think before taking on two
precious piggies? Some people do make me mad! At least they are safe at
Palace Piggies again. They are the top two on the page, Benedict and
Delilah, two lovely porkers.

So please welcome Carter, Aoife and Saoirse to the herd. After a minor
panic when Henry Hoover went by, the girlies are now fast asleep in the
haypile and Carter is sleeping in a cardboard box, which he seems to like.
He does not mind Henry Hoover. I think that he must once have been loved
for him to be so tame and wonder what happened to him. I am glad that he
will be loved once again. Dear little fellow.

Sorry Moderators if this is too long. If you reject it, I can split it into
two like I used to with my stories.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
