I got this kind of shivery reaction from reading Joy's post about the souls
of our pets, because after reading the touching posting about the one pig
and then another and hearing a really ugly story from my aunt, I was gazing
at my pigs for a long time trying to penetrate the unknowable.

if they have souls, and if they do, what are they like. What does it feel
like to be a guinea pig for example? A happy guinea pig, a neglected guinea
pig. Sometimes for example a neglected child does not know they are
neglected. They only know what it feels like to be neglected so they think
that is normal. Maybe somewhere inside them they long for what they miss. A
happy gp might have a kind of warmth while an unloved one might feel cold?

Maybe a soul is like a knowingness without words as we understand them. A
soul: does that give them a heart, affection, understanding? I feel
distracted by other things at the moment, but that souls buisness gave me
pause. I am interested in what other people think about animal souls!
