I just heard from someone and they said do NOT give your guinea pig the Malta (Petromalt)!  It is way too sweet for them and may contribute to diabetes.  
 
Guinea pigs naturally eliminate hairballs in their system if they should develop a hairball.  You may also want to give them hay rich in fiber and add pineapple or pineapple juice to the diet a few times a week.
