[Gpdd] Breeding: An appreciation

I sent this once, but apparently it wasn't received. So I'll try again.

I just want to offer a short note of encouragement to the people who
recently wrote such thoughtful, carefully worded and kindly-intended
responses advising against breeding. Although it may seem that your
advice was not heard, I'm sure the information you offered was new to
some on the digest, and was certainly an important reminder to those of
us who have been members for a while. And for anyone who believes that
overbreeding and abandonment is particularly a U.S. problem, Ernie,
quietly sleeping in my lap as I write this, was let loose in a park in
Berlin, Germany - in winter. Bert, currently enjoying a piece of
cucumber, was an unwanted baby. The Berlin Animal Shelter always has
guinea pigs available for adoption. And, unfortunately, we have to
remember that the guinea pigs who end up at the animal shelter may be
the lucky few among the many unwanted and abused.
