Dear Misty

I was really saddened to hear of your loss of your little guinea. You
must be heartbroken. Vets can sometimes be rubbish, my friend Dawn lost
her guinea pig just because the vet didn't check the guinea's teeth and
it stopped eating, once they stop eating they go downhill really
quickly. I am surprised the vet didn't give you special syringe feed
food and pro-biotic to help the gut digest (as the antibiotic kills of
gut flora). Apparently when guineas get ill they can quite often
develop a heart murmur if there is a bit of a weakness there.

I also fell foul of a rubbish vet that failed to x-ray Vincent to check
for stones. Poor little mite died in agony. On the last day he was so
weak and couldn't sit up, but him and Jimmy all of a sudden started
squeaking their little lungs out. I think it was a last goodbye between
friends.

By the time I found a decent small animal specialist it was too late.
But it may be worth you scouting around to find a good vet before your
other pig gets ill.

Take care,

Bec, Jimmy and Wilf Pig
