This posting is for Marion's study:
I grew up on a farm with dozens of cats, at least one dog, and assorted
other barnyard creatures around. I've never had a guinea pig, nor known
anyone that did. About a year and a half back, my daughter got the idea she
wanted a hedgehog! So we looked around and found a pet store that carried
them, brushed up on care and brought 'Nigel' home. Nigel was wonderful and
stayed with us about 6 months. Then mysteriously he got very ill and began
loosing weight. We took him to the vet and tried everything to bring him
back to health, but to no avail, and unfortunately, he died. It broke my
heart. So hubby, decided on a second hedge-hog, Isis. Unfortunately, she
went the same way as Nigel. We had a 'guarantee' on her from the pet store
and when we went back to work out the details, hubby stopped at the guinea
pig pen, knowing how upset my daughter and I both were. There I spotted the
adorable, 'tyrant princess' Skittles. One look at that little face and I
was hooked! That was over a year ago, and we've since taken in Bert and
Ernie who were rescued from the Humane Society. I also have two cats, Min
and Smokey, who are great with the piggies (the GPs use them for climbing
on!) The rest is, as they say, Guinea Pig history. Hope this helps your
study Marion.
