[Gpdd] [CARE] Guinea Pig not accepting new piggie

Hi, I just wanted to give you hope. My Snowball was pregnant and I tried to put her with two of my
other girls and got the same type of reaction. She had the babies in September, so when the babies
were old enough to be separated, I put the baby boys in with my male piggies (worked out really
well) and then put Snowball and the two baby girls in with my other two girls and it was a
completely different story. There was of course the getting mad at each other while choosing who
was queen of the cage, but once that was figured out, all is great. When you do first put them
together, do it in an area that is not considered either of their own spaces (a neutral territory).
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Original message: ** I have had a 5 year old female piggy. She lost her brother almost one year

ago and has been living on her own for the last 11 months. We thought she

might like to have another companion so we got a young piggy, that turned out

to be pregnant. My old piggy is terrified of the new piggy and she squeals

something awful when I put them together in the same cage. The new piggy will

chase her around the cage and nip at her. Is the pregnant sow acting this

way because she is pregnant? Is there any hope that the two will ever live in

harmony together? Should I wait till after the babies are born to try and

put them in the cage together? Any suggestions about how to get them used to

each other? Ideally, I wanted to house them in the same cage. Thank you.
