I also worked many years in the medical field and currently work at a veterinary hospital.
Since beta carotene converts into Vitamin A, guinea pigs can get an overdose of carrots and damage the liver if you give them all the time.  I also stated that carrots contain a lot of sugar which can lead to diabetes.
