Hi,
If it is mites you should be able to easily treat it
with Ivermectin. Ivomec, a brand name, comes in an
injectible solution made for cattle or a horse paste
that you can get at a horse supply store. It is very
important that you determine your pigs' correct weight
and double-check the dosing information. You just
apply a tiny amount (correctly measured) topically on
their skin or orally. I just treated my pigs
topically.
I work at that particular store... I bet this woman
was referring to a "flea and tick" spray, which is
pyrethrins based. I do not think that this is actually
good for ridding pigs of mites. People at this store
really don't always know what they're talking about.
You can also get Ivermectin shipped to you over the
internet, at www.valleyvet.com . Here is a link with
more thorough information:

You can also have your vet treat her with ivermectin
for mites. However, it may not be mites; it could be a
fungal or other type of infection. But it would be a
good idea first to treat for mites. Ivermectin is safe
to use even if you are not sure she has any.
Best of luck,
