Hi All-
I just read another article on this 'pocket pet danger'. This one on Medpage today,
linked from cnn.com. These give just enough information to panic people. There
is detailed history on one little boy who had diarrhea a year ago after getting a
pet mouse from a pet store.
They don't mention the thousands of kids who got diarrhea from just not washing
their hands, from contact with each other, poor hygiene, etc.
Please stay on top of this, don't panic, and be prepared with 'the rest of the story'
when the subject comes up. Our newly formed cavy club here is gearing up to
properly inform pet owners and the general public what the truth is. We hope
animals are not needlessly destroyed because of the ensuing panic.
If anyone else has any suggestions or related experiences on this, speak up!
There are enough people out there who think we're nuts already! ;-)
Wheeks!
