The story about those unpleasant youths can be found on the BBC website
(www.bbc.co.uk - search for hamster); on that page there are links to
other reports including TV Channel 4, and newspapers the Telegraph and
Guardian.

I agree with Birdie how smug the blond boy looked.  They should also have
to clean out the piranahs, and then the crocodiles.  Their pictures and
names are on the web; people know who they are, they won't have any
friends.  They'll have to live with what they have done for the rest of
their lives; as my Grandmother used to say "God doesn't need money to pay
his debts".

The happy ending to the story is that the postman discovered the little
hamster and took him to the vet, and he was unharmed.  Then one of the
veterinary nurses adopted him and has called him "First Class", so he
should now have a happy home.
