...with me and Captain Jack.

Apparently there was a group rescue in PA a couple on months back (June)
-- "the PA 13," all 13 GPs in one of pet shop sized cage. 13!! With one
water bottle, 1 bowl of food and outside, where they had to stand and walk on
top of each other. And either 5 or 8 of the little females were pregnant, one
only a month old if I read correctly. Poor little things!

It would have been an impossible for me 9 hour trip to have gone there &
back (by the way, many many thanks to the guinea lynx people who would have
gotten him to me somehow)! but the rescuer had a friend visiting that
particular weekend from good ole Westerville, OH -- a suburb of Columbus where I long
made my home. It's about 75 miles from where I now reside. (This place, "where
I now reside" with which I have a love hate relationship. : )

So my daughter and I headed north on Sunday 8/10/08, and these wonderful
people sent the piggy south. The complete trip would have been impossible for
me, but 75 miles (each way) was do-able -- exhausing actually, but do-able.)
Almost it was like I was meant to have the handsome little cavy. He's mostly
abby, tri-colored. One side of his face reminds me of Andy Panda! And he's so
lovable!! My grandaughter says he has a "yin and yang" piggy face.

Alas, he views Captain Jack as a sexual object and tries not only to
mount him but to molest him which does not go over well with my gentleman pirate
Captain Jack. He's tried being polite but that has worn thin. I'm trying to
give them just a couple minutes together each day. Any suggestions? He was
apparently born in early June or maybe rescued then but he's still small though
not tiny. (He's at that "teen stage" while Cap'n Jack is now a mature 6 months
old.) And during his first critical weeks, the new piggy (currently still
named Chase) had no socializing. But after rescue he did get much attention from
a boy in his foster home (I wonder how he did with the 2 piggies he was with
there? Brothers I think. Also together from the get-go.
All this out of the way -- he's a darling!! He jumps up on his house and
looks around -- loves his piggy sack (but wets in it) -- I have others and
suddenly can't find them!! He also likes his cuddle cup and house. But his cavy
cozy.... ah, that's bliss. So where are the ones my boys got for Christmas!!!!
Too many people moving things around in this house. Snarl, growl, grumble.
I hope, so hope, that he and Cap'n Jack learn to play together -- the
original Jolly Rodents were such a trip and had so much fun together. I'd love
to see these little characters enjoy themselves so much.
There's also the possibility of a #3 pig within the next 10 days or so.
A Wheee one. Still debating.
