Dear Laura

Keep the note that was given to you telling you not to let the pig out. It
is proof of the way these people are not taking proper care of the gp, and
turning down your efforts to take proper care of him. Also, take as many
photos as you can from lots of different angles, of the gp in this very
small cage. This all counts as evidence.

I don't know if you are in the UK or USA, but in either instance, call
either the RSPCA of equivalent animal welfare group in the USA and report to
them the conditions this animal lives in. They will have to go and inspect
and the school will be issued with guidelines on what they have to supply as
a minimum for the gp. They should be checked on after a time to make sure
they have compiled. You could also try contacting any local guinea pig
recues in the area for advice.

They cannot keep a gp like that, as not only is it wrong but it sends out
the totally wrong message to children and their parents about the size of
cage o gp needs to live in. Animal welfare groups have guidelines on the
size of cages animals require, and if the school is not providing this, they
will have to if an inspector is called in to visit.

If you don't feel you're getting anywhere, call the local papers with the
story. If you feel you can't call because of how it may affect you, ask a
friend or family member to call. The school will not like the attention and
will respond.

Don't let the school get away with it. There won't be a GPDD reader who
isn't right behind you willing you on for this gp. Don't give up, and
remain persitant. YOU are in the right, not them. If the school get
cheesed off enough they may want to give the gp up and then you can at least
get it out of there and to a good rescue, so it can be found the right home.

Good luck, and please let us all know how it all goes. Thank goodness that
gp has you helping him, as he really needs you.

Kind regards

Carole
