  I am so sorry to hear about Golden. Judging by what you said of his symptoms, it sounds like maybe congestive heart failure. I know how traumatic the emergency vet is. They almost never have anyone who is familiar with exotics. Personally, I think you did the right thing. Putting him thru having a needle stuck in his chest would have just been horrible for him & probably wouldn't have helped in the long run. I had to have Albert put to sleep at the emergency vets in the middle of the night. They were very nice & gave me all the time I needed with him to say goodbye. My husband finally had to take him away from me. They even sent me a sympathy card afterwards. It sounds to me like you did everything right & I'm so sorry you lost him. Please know my thoughts & prayers are with you & your family.
