[Gpdd] RAINBOW BRIDGE: very belated condolences, Molly

Thanks so much for your condolences, Cindy--it's greatly appreciated. Molly
went thru hell at the hands of two vets, unnecessarily. My friend, Eleanor,
said it best--I didn't do anything wrong, the vets did, but that doesn't
help the guilt I still feel. Molly was a wonderful girl, personality-plus,
& a fantastic mom to my other girls. She didn't deserve what happened to
her. We miss her terribly.
Ann is incredible & we're so blessed to have her in our backyard & on our
side, along with the vet that she works with. We're going thru issues with
Emma now--she's the most lipoma-ridden pig Ann has ever seen, probably due
to inbreeding, & is getting HCG shots to try to reduce the lipomas. My old
vet's solution was to remove them surgically (more anesthesia, as usual) &
he finally told me a few years ago that it "wasn't in Emma's best interests
to have any more surgery"--basically told me to take her home to die. She's
still here & doing well--but if she had started the HCG shots 4 years ago,
her lipomas would not have progressed to this point. She's not a chronic
stone pig, but has one now since the large lipomas kinked her urethra into
an S-shape & that's what caused the stone to form. We have Emma on 0.3ml of
Vit C & 0.4ml of Hydrangea Extract once a day in the hopes that it'll
prevent the stone from getting larger--plus we're syringing as much bottled
water & cranberry juice (not cranberry cocktail, the real stuff) as we can
every day. Hopefully that'll flush the small stone out of her urethra--it's
pretty far down, so we're hopeful that we'll be able to avoid surgery.

Thanks again, Cindy, Tumbleweed & Friday--I hope this info is helpful to all
on the GPDD & can avoid anyone else from going thru our heartbreak. Deb,
Emma, Winnie & Lily (& Molly & Potter, always with us)

Subject: RAINBOW BRIDGE: very belated condolences, Molly

Deb, Emma, Winnie, and Lily, please accept our very belated condolences on
Molly's passing. How tragic that she probably developed liver damage from
getting too much anesthesia during teeth trims and other procedures. It was
very shocking to read that the vet was trimming her teeth, yet her incisors
were very overgrown. It is also so sad that she had a series of strokes.
We are so very sorry that this happened to your sweet girl. Please don't
say you were stupid to listen to your previous vet. You were doing your
best with what you knew at the time; that's all any of us can do. Thank you
for relating your difficult story so that other piggies can be helped. We
are so glad that you found Ann Evans so close to you and that she was able
to trim Molly's incisors, help you find a great vet, and give you lots of
helpful piggie info. It was with much sadness that we read that Molly had
to be put to sleep, but we know she knew how much you loved her, and we are
glad that she was surrounded by her family and friends as she made her final
journey. We are sure that her experiences will save other piggies and that
is a wonderful tribute to her.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all sick piggies and their families.

Sadly,
Cindy, Tumbleweed, and Friday
