[Gpdd] Health: Update on Chico

I am delighted to read that Chico's lump appears to have removed itself. If
it was not a trichofolliculoma, I was wondering if it might have been a
sebaceous cyst that had erupted when you were not looking and the contents
had hardened into a lump. It is hard to say without seeing him and now the
lump has gone anyway.

I am glad that your vet has a lot of experience and knows to use gas
anaesthetic. The safe ones for piggies are Isoflurane or Sevoflurane.

When my Peony had her sebaceous cyst removed last week, she did not need
any anaesthetic. Hers was the usual kind with the contents that look like
and have the consistency of cream cheese. Our Rodentologist had his
assistant hold her in place on a comfy towel on his table whilst he removed
the gunk and cleaned out the hole. Then he carefully picked out the
offending gland with a tiny pair of tweezers whilst Peony carried on
munching on some parsley, oblivious to what was happening on her side. The
gland needs removing as, otherwise, the cyst can grow again.

Being paranoid about anaesthetics with piggies, I would probably leave
whatever is left alone. I have had piggies with all sorts of lumps and
bumps and if they cause no problem, I let them be. Roscoe has had a lipoma
for most of his life but it never bothers him.

Whatever happens, we will be thinking of Chico next Tuesday and keep all of
our very many paws crossed that all goes well.
