Sometimes a baby boar is the best companion for a grown boar as they see
them as a baby and treat them that way. The drawback is that as the baby
boar reaches puberty he may want to challenge Batman for the Alpha spot and
if somebody doesn't give in fights can ensue. If the baby wins the alpha
spot the batman can have his feeling hurt. There are some strategies. One
way is to have a big cage with a barrier between so they live side by side
until they sleep side by side and are clearly wanting to be with one
another. Then we can try them together.

The other way to pair him with a spayed sow or have him snipped since it is
less serious surgery Any surgery is a risk for piggies so you have to find
a piggy that follows the right anesthesia protocol for piggies with
isoflurethane. Don’t mess with a surgeon who hasn’t done 100 buns and pigs
with a 1% or less loss rate. Ann Evans has the complete instructions for
anesthesia as she attend all her vets piggy surgeries handling the
anesthesia. See the piece she wrote on Sooty.

There is no 100% solution for piggies living together successfully but with
work and skill it can usually be worked out. But you should be prepared to
have have piggies live side by side if they just cant live together. For
sure being social animals they need to be with another piggy but sometimes
it just takes work , skill, and flexibility, other times they just go
together like Legos. But you never know. Sandy and Sammy
