My advice would be to get the vets to clip them! You don't need all that stress.  I take Mimi every 8 weeks or so to the vet because her nails are jet black & I can't see the quick so I'm afraid I will cut too short. They only charge $8.00. Not bad I think for my sanity! Hugs...
