[Gpdd] miscellaneous question about food safety

I feed Sammy cilantro/coriander  and flat Italian parsley but not chives or
any other allium (onion and garlic family).  I keep parsley and cilantro
fresh for as much as two weeks  by pinching  off the bottom and damaged
leaves when I get home from the store, cut off the bottoms about half an
inch and arrange them on a mug or glass with water in the bottom under the
lowest leaves like flowers, put a plastic bag over all, and keep on the top
shelf of the refrigerator.  Change the water frequently. Sammy loves it. I
stick a few stalks in the top of the cage dangling stems down so he has to
stand to pull them down one by one.  Course I only have only one piggy,
otherwise I would need a separate frig or home garden to have enough.
