Jaime,

We are all delighted that you have that big piggy in your care but we are
disgusted by your treatment at the hands of the HL. Being in England, I
don't know how the HL group operates but to leave you with a huge vet bill
is despicable. If you had been near me, I could have provided Scrappy with
his antibiotics and clipped his nails myself. I always keep a bottle of
Septrin in my piggy first aid kit. Anyone who fosters any animal for my
local private rescue can use the in house vet free of charge and is
provided with all the necessary feeds and meds. They run a fostering
service for anyone fleeing a dangerous domestic situation, with the proviso
that the animal/s can be returned when the owner's situation improves. I
hope that the HL give you free hay and pellets at the very least. They have
acted shamefully and this needs to reach a wider audience. Is there a
higher authority to whom you could complain? The HL is fortunate to have
you and they should appreciate your kindness.

Scrappy is a very lucky fellow to have been rescued by you and Mimi. After
all he has been through, I am not surprised that he is not cooperative when
it comes to his meds. I hope that he does not have to take Baytril, which
is very bitter.

He is a very big piggy. I've had some large fellows here at Piggyfriends
but not that large. This could be due to a lack of exercise in that
ridiculously small cage or being fed on a sugary diet but I hope that he is
not part cuy. I forget who brought the problem of cuys to our notice on the
GPDD but, although I will never see one in England, I read up about them
and it seems that cross bred piggy/cuys are in the pet shop chain in the
US. It just made me wonder when I read your description of him being
terrified and I remember reading about the piggy/cuys being larger than the
average piggy, almost wild and impossible to handle. I am sure that, once
he knows that he is loved, he will come around. He has a lot to unlearn.

Thank you so much for giving him the chance of a happy life. He really
deserves it.

Hugs for Mimi and Scrappy ( he needs a better name doesn't he? ) Looking
forward to pigtures when you have the time.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
