Hello everyone,

My handsome Abby piggy Apollo is having issues eating. I noticed this
Tuesday night, when he was trying to eat a treat, but could only take very
small bites. I took a look at his front teeth and they were at an angle and
seemed a little long to me. I couldn't see his back teeth.

He tries to eat; he'll pick up something and then he'll put it back down.

He went to the vet on Wednesday, and unfortunately the person that is
amazing with guinea pigs was on medical leave. But overall the vet place is
pretty good. The vet we had said the front teeth looked a little long, and
the back teeth did look a little long as well, but they weren't trapping
the tongue. She put him under for a little bit and filed his front and back
teeth down, and did a head x-ray to see if there were any abscesses. The
x-ray didn't show anything.

He's on metacam for pain (in case the filing made his teeth sore), reglan
to help his gut, and he was sneezing a little in his carrier, so he's on
something else too but I've forgotten the name. I might stop that
antibiotic, since I have not seen him sneeze at home, before or after the
vet visit.

I gave him some critical care yesterday and today, but he's still not
eating by himself. I cut up his carrots and other foods into small chunks,
but he's not interested. He'll run away from the food if I put in front of
him. Like I mentioned above, every once in awhile he'll pick something up
and put it down.

Any thoughts on what this could be? The vet said to keep an eye on his
weight and bring him back if it goes down. It's going to go down if he's
not eating. He's already lost 200 grams. The vet said the next steps would
be a full body x-ray and blood work.

Other details that might help - for the last several months, he was
drinking tons of water, or at least draining the water bottle. His food
bowl would get mushy, so he had water in his mouth that he was carrying
over to the food bowl, turning the pellets into mush. I was weighing him
when this was going on, and he was staying the same weight at the time so I
didn't think much of it.

Any advice would be great!
